Tap Dance is an exciting form of dance which has its roots in Irish Step Dancing, Lancashire Clog and American Jazz Tap. There are two major variations; rhythm (Jazz) tap and Broadway tap which focuses on performance and musicals.

Tap is often described as “conversation with the feet” due to the variety of rhythms and light and shade used. It is a form of dance that is enjoyed by young and old alike.

 

  • Classes for Boys and Girls from reception to advanced level are held on week-days after school and Saturday mornings.
  • Examinations are taken with the International Dance Teachers Association as well as the opportunity to perform on stage in our annual shows.
  • Each subject is taught in a separate class combining children of a similar age / standard.
  • Help and advice will be given to older children who have not danced from an early age, this will be assessed and discussed after their first class.
