Classes

Baby Ballet

These classes are designed for boys and girls from 2 years. They are ballet based and an ideal introduction to dance before starting school. The lesson also includes singing, mime and encourages creativity whilst learning to engage with other children building confidence and social skills within a structured class. Once the children reach reception age and start school a range of other subjects become available.

Ballet

Ballet is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology, it originated in the Italian Renaissance Courts of the 15th century and later developed in France and Russia. It is the foundation of all other dance genres as it builds strength, flexibility and musicality. Whichever style a professional dancer follows; ballet will always be a major part of their training.

Modern Dance

Modern Dance is an umbrella for a host of diverse styles that have developed and changed over the years. It is still a structured discipline bringing flexibility, strength and creativity. As a child grows and develops they will experience the many different types of modern dance available. Dancers appearing in all the popular shows in the West End and Broadway today will have trained in Modern Dance.

Tap Dance

Tap Dance is an exciting form of dance which has its roots in Irish Step Dancing, Lancashire Clog and American Jazz Tap. There are two major variations; rhythm (Jazz) tap and Broadway tap which focuses on performance and musicals. Tap is often described as “conversation with the feet” due to the variety of rhythms and light and shade used. It is a form of dance that is enjoyed by young and old alike.

Musical Theatre & Drama

These subjects were introduced into the school in 1997 and have grown in numbers and popularity ever since. The three main disciplines in these classes are:- Acting, Singing and Staged Movement. We focus on stage productions, combining serious pieces with comedy roles, intermingled with scenes from musicals and plays. The classes are confidence building and encourage social interaction with each other. Children of all abilities are able to express themselves and gain the enjoyment of performing on stage in front of family and friends. The classes are open to boys and girls from school reception to 18 years old and run on Fridays from 4.15 – 9.15pm.

Singing

The singing lessons are coached by Rebecca Urszuly who’s career as a professional singer spans over 16 years and has taken her all over the world. Having such a wealth of experience in the industry she is able to pass this on to her students who learn and improve through her fun and exciting lessons. The lessons are taken in small groups with pupils of a similar age and can be started from school year 3. Due to the popularity of these classes there may be a waiting list. Lessons are on Friday evenings. Please contact the studio for availability.
